ABOUT WSSD
The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) offers Pre-K through 12th grade Waldorf education across two campuses in the heart of an innovative city and beautiful landscape. Founded in 1981, WSSD has been serving San Diego and the greater community for over 40 years. We have families coming from as far as Oceanside to the north, Tijuana to the south, and the rural community of Alpine to the east.
Our campus provides a serene and natural environment conducive to learning and exploration. The 4-acre Lower School (Early Childhood through Grade 8) campus is located in a hillside neighborhood within the urban setting of City Heights. From the lushness of our schoolyard, students can see Mexico and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest and a panorama of mountains to the east. The school facilities include three major buildings, playing fields, and a beautiful garden classroom. We have a large auditorium where we hold eurythmy, musical, and theater performances and other assemblies throughout the year.

Spanish Teacher
The Waldorf School of San Diego is seeking a full-time Spanish Teacher to teach in our high school (Grades 9 – 12). The Spanish teacher under the Chairs will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential.
This position is an exempt, full-time with benefits. The ideal candidate will have a loving and caring nature and also possess a warm authority with the students. Flexibility as well as an ability to maintain rhythms and routines is essential qualities for this position. The Spanish teacher position is well suited for someone with strong leadership capacities who has an interest in teaching and Waldorf Education.
Qualifications:
Candidates MUST possess a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution. Waldorf Teaching credential PREFERRED, but not required.
We are looking for someone who can start on or around the beginning of February 2026.
Salary Range:
$54,006 – $63,306 annually (BOE)

High School Part-Time Math Teacher
High School Part-Time Math Teacher
Position Overview:
The Waldorf School of San Diego High School is seeking a passionate, committed, and compassionate Math Teacher to join our dedicated high school faculty. This is a part-time, per-class position (8–12 classes per week) during the school year, starting in September 2025.
The high school math teacher will teach up to two courses, with each course meeting four times per week. Potential courses include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. The specific course(s) assigned will be based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and scope and sequence
- Develop and administer assessments to track student progress
- Write individual narrative evaluations at the end of each semester
- Implement individual educational support plans when needed
- Collaborate with faculty and families to integrate support within the broader curriculum
- Support students’ personal growth with warm authority, consistency, and care
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field (Master’s degree preferred but not required)
- Relevant teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with flexibility and a commitment to maintaining routines
- Experience with Waldorf education or training (preferred but not required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (training available through WSSD)
- Successful completion of a background check (required)
Compensation:
- This is a part-time position
- $45-$55 per class

Community Engagement Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Community Engagement Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the school and its parent/caregiver community, including current and prospective families and alumni, fostering strong connections, creating a sense of belonging, and promoting the school’s mission through strategic communication, events, partnerships, volunteer coordination, and clear and consistent communication about Waldorf principles and practices.
This position will report to the Leadership Council, which is composed of representatives from the Administrative Realm, Pedagogical Realm, and Board of Trustees. It may be combined with other part-time roles for candidates seeking full-time employment. Position will remain open until filled.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Building: develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective families; coordinate open houses, community festivals and parent education events; act as a liaison between the school and the Parent and Caregiver Circle (PACC) and other parent/caregiver groups; support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives through community engagement.
- Volunteer Coordination: recruit and support volunteers for school events and community programs; maintain a database of volunteer participation.
- Alumni & Donor Relations: maintain communication with alumni and help organize alumni events; assist in donor stewardship by planning community events and gratitude initiatives.
- Development: oversee our school’s annual community fundraising campaign in coordination with the Development Committee.
- Communications: collaborate with the Marketing Manager on the school’s newsletter, social media and website content related to community engagement; collaborate with Admissions, Marketing and the Development Committee to support enrollment and fundraising goals.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a Waldorf setting and an alignment with the Waldorf educational philosophy.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, education or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in event planning, community organizing or volunteer coordination.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, Google Workspace and design tools.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $23-33 based on experience.
